Abstract

Close-coupled pumping of gain media with short absorption lengths can lead to significant reductions in the size and complexity of diode laser-pumped solid-state lasers without compromising the output beam quality or optical conversion efficiency.1 This pumping technique can significantly decrease both the size and cost of a diode-pumped laser relative to those utilizing conventional pumping schemes.
