Abstract

The laser diode-pumped solid-state laser has received much attention as a light source for second-harmonic generation (SHG).1 Using SHG in an optical disk system that has a high-density memory will require a light source that is smaller and has a lower input power, and this means that we need to develop a laser diode that pumps a solid-state laser more efficiently. This paper therefore proposes a high-power single-mode laser diode for efficient solid-state laser pumping.
