Abstract

Zinc selenide, a II-VI semiconductor with band-gap energy of 2.67eV, near to the 465-nm true-blue wavelength targeted for audiovisual and optical storage applications, is currently of interest because its direct band-to-band carrier recombination is a possible transition for use in blue diode lasers. Low temperature operation of such a device has recently been demonstrated.1
