Abstract

Optical integration of an optical disk pickup’ is a promising way to minimize the size of an optical memory system. However, the optical performance of waveguide beam couplers is sensitive to the wavelength change Furthermore, the optimum beam coupling angle usually has a very small tolerance. To relax these restrictions, a micrograting coupler (MGC) is added to an integrated optical pickup OOP).
