Abstract
We previously developed a 1-W intracavity frequency-doubled Nd: YAG laser using a KTiOPO4 (green laser) pumped by a bundle of fiber-coupled broad-area high-power laser diodes.1 The green laser was then employed to obtain continuous-wave (cw) 266-nm ultraviolet (UV) light using an external-resonant cavity for frequency-doubling with a nonlinear crystal BBO (β-BaB2O2). Superior conversion efficiency of the external-resonant technique using a MgO: LiNb042 or a KNb033 has been reported. When the technique was used with a BBO crystal, good efficiency was reported from a mode-locked output.4
