Direct high bit rate encoding of a high power picosecond pulse train generated by a self-Q-switched multicontact laser

Abstract

Data encoding of a self-Q-switched picosecond pulse stream has been achieved using a single chip multicontact laser at bit rates of up to 2 Gb/s (system limited). Temporal jitter is reduced to below 2 ps.
