Abstract

The upgrade to the OMEGA laser system at the University of Rochester will use a 15 cm clear-aperture disk amplifier and a 20 cm dear-aperture disk amplifier as the final two amplifiers in the IR portion of a single beamline. Prototypes of both of these amplifiers were previously constructed and characterized for small-signal performance.1 These prototypes were deployed on one beamline of the existing OMEGA laser system and were characterized for large-signal energy transport, focusability, and whole-beam pointing.
