Abstract
Semiconductor ring lasers are being developed for photonic integrated circuits and other applications. This new class of diode lasers is unique in offering the possibility for unidirectional lasing that can lead to improved device performance and reduced sensitivity to external optical feedback. In this paper, we report the development of unidirectional semiconductor ring lasers with circular and racetrack ring cavities.
