Second-harmonic generation in ultranarrow p-type stepped GaAs quantum wells

Abstract

Harmonic generation experiments have recently been performed in n-type asymmetric and coupled quantum wells with CO2 lasers in the 10-μm region.1 A strong enhancement was predicted and observed when the laser was tuned to an energy corresponding to the separation between quantized levels in the conduction band.
