Abstract

Lasers of Nd: YAG active elements with stable resonators usually yield multimode radiation with divergency 20-100 times exceeding the diffraction limit. Use of unstable resonators is not a trivial task because of induced strong thermal lenses in crystals. Good results were achieved from a single active element laser with an unstable resonator in Ref. 1. The resonator scheme included the supergauss coupler and imaged a middle section of the amplifier on itself.
