Abstract
A novel phonon-terminated laser crystal, Y3 (In, Ga)2 Ga3O12Gr3+ , has been grown by flux method. Measurements of absorption and luminescence taken from 4.8-300 K indicate that YIGG is a host with a crystal-field strength dose to that of GSGG and is another potential solid-state ambient tunable laser material operating in the red and near infrared region after GIGG that we had discovered.
