Abstract
Ionic excimers were proposed as candidates of the XUV laser media in 1985, More than twenty kinds of ionic excimers have been obtained since that time, which yield radiation in the 110-190-nm range. Theoretical studies predicted the existence of another type of ionic excimers—rare gas halide ionic excimers—which may radiate below 100 nm. Recently, fluorescent emission from krypton fluoride ionic excimers was observed near 148 nm in our laboratory, for the first time, to our knowledge.
