Abstract

Free-space multichannel optical switches based on liquid-crystal spatial light modulators (LC-SLMs) are attractive optical switches for future telecommunication systems.1,2 This is because LC-SLMs have many advantages for free-space- and polarization-controlling-type optical switches such as low power consumption, easy integration into large arrays, and transparent to the lights being switched over a wide wavelength region.3–5
