Abstract
Steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy and time-resolved fluorescence have been approached as two separate techniques in tissue diagnosis.1 Previous studies of plaque demarcation, have shown distinct differences between typical steady state fluorescence spectra of normal vessel wall and plaque. In other studies, time resolved fluorescence has been applied and shown differences in the temporal behavior for plaque and normal tissue. For developing an accurate diagnostic probe, both aspects of the tissue fluorescence must be considered.
