Abstract

A key component in future dense wavelength division multiplexed systems is a tunable narrow-band wavelength filter. We propose and have analyzed a new class of extremely narrow band (~0.3 Å), tunable (~150 Å) filters which have infinite free spectral range (FSR). The filters are based on the time response of nonlinear optical (NLO) media.
