Abstract

We have recently demonstrated efficient operation of a Tm,Ho:YLF laser pumped by quasi-CW diode-laser arrays. We have obtained 50 mJ (2 W @ 40 Hz) of output in a TEM₀₀ mode with 377 mJ of 793-nm pump energy. We have measured slope efficiencies up to 21%, with overaíí optical conversions of up to 13%. In addition we have obtained 89 mJ of multimode output, for a 24% overall efficiency.
