Abstract

Optical parametric oscillator (OPO) devices, pumped by ns-pulsed lasers and based on gain media such as β-barium borate (BBO), enable coherent wavelength generation with high efficiency over a broad spectral range. The free-running optical bandwidth of such devices is typically 4–100 cm−1, requiring some form of bandwidth control to be implemented before many potential spectroscopic applications can be realised.
