Abstract

Propagation of polaritons in inhomogeneous artificial media is becoming an important issue in the transmission, redistribution and storage of electromagnetic energy and may also have applications in devices. The polariton being an hybrid matter-radiation mode these aspects may be drastically altered as its material support is altered for instance in the course of its propagation in inhomogeneous media.1 In this context the polariton transmission through an interface or a layer is a key problem.
