Abstract
We report on the preparation of a series of polyimide-side-chain and polyamide-main- chain polymers for electro-optic applications. Thin films prepared by spin casting were analyzed for their linear, nonlinear, and electro-optic properties. The time–temperature behavior of the chromophore relaxation has been modeled to obtain estimates of the lifetimes of electro-optic devices using these polymers.
