Abstract

For many applications in telecommunications, sensing, and spectroscopy highly efficient, reliable, power-scalable monomode laser light sources are required. Because of the recent development of reliable high-power diode lasers it is now possible to build even high-power, all-solid-state lasers. The waveguide structure of a fiber laser enforces oscillation in a single transverse mode at any power level.
