Abstract
There has been great interest in the Cr3+-doped Colquiriite family of laser materials because of their tunability and potential for diode-pumped operation by using visible-light diode lasers. The broad tuning range of these materials has led to demonstration of ultrashort pulse generation by using ion-laser1 and doubled 1.32-μm Nd:YLF2 pumping. The emission wavelength of these materials (750–1000 nm) will permit coverage of the blue-green spectral region by means of second-harmonic generation.
