20-W cw single-frequency, diode-laser-pumped Nd:YAG slab laser

Abstract

Gravitational-wave interferometric receivers and high-power resonant nonlinear optics require an efficient single-frequency laser that provides many tens of watts. Previously we have reported on a diode-laser-pumped cw Nd:YAG zig-zag slab laser that emits 40 Win a tem00 mode and 72 W in multimode operation when pumped with 235 W.1 This laser has now been configured as a ring cavity and has been injection locked to obtain single-frequency operation.2
