Abstract

Pattern formation due to transversal instabilities of laser beams has been observed in resonant vapors,1 liquid crystals,2 and, recently, photorefractive crystals.3,4 The steady-state picture of pattern formation is relatively well understood,5 but little is known about the dynamics of pattern evolution.
