Abstract
In the last few years cw mode-locked optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) have become increasingly important for the generation of ultrashort pulses from the visible to the near-infrared spectral regions. In particular, the Ti:sapphire-laser-pumped noncritically-phase-matched KTP OPO1 is a highly efficient frequency downconverter for ultrashort pulses from 1.04 to 1.4 μm, which is the signal wave of this OPO. If these signal wavelengths of the KTP OPO are frequency doubled the gap in the visible region between the fundamental and the second harmonic of the Ti:sapphire laser can be filled.
