Abstract
A fiber ring through which a bit stream of pulses is circulating can be used as a longterm memory. For this purpose three conditions have to be met: (a) the ones must be remain recognizable ones, (b) the zeros must be remain recognizable zeros, and (c) the pulses must not walk off their assigned time slots. To solve all these problems we need a nonlinear system. Recently it has been demonstrated that two soliton fiber rings can be used as a long-term memory.1,2
