Abstract
Second-harmonic (SH) generation of TEA CO2 laser radiation is widely used for various applications. However, the low energy usually achieved with commercial lasers and the available frequencies (obtained by simple frequency doubling of TEA CO2 laser lines) essentially restrict possibilities of this technique for many potentially important applications. Here we report efficient conversion of the multiple-transverse-mode output of a TEA CO2 laser to the 5-μm region by second-harmonic and sum-frequency (SF) generation in wide-aperture long AgGaSe2 crystals.
