Abstract

Although pulsed lasing action of the visible transitions of Pr3+:YLF has been demonstrated as early as 1977,1 it was only recently that cw laser action was reported at six wavelengths in the visible region.2 Currently, solid-state laser are the subject of various research programes, however, to date the majority of systems have been operative in the near-infra-red region.
