Abstract
The broad gain bandwidth of solid-state tunable ultraviolet Ce3+-doped fluoride crystals1-4 is attractive for ultrashort-pulse application. Ce3+:LuLiF4 (Ce:LLF) is a laser medium with potential tunability from 305 to 340 nm4 Using Ce:LLF, we demonstrated ultraviolet picosecond-pulse amplification.5 This presentation describes a newly proposed self-injection-seeding scheme and reports on direct ultraviolet picosecond-pulse-train generation from a solid-state-laser medium.
