Abstract

Because the optical feedback changes with the carrier density, the dynamic performance of gain-coupled DFB lasers is more critically dependent on the complex coupling coefficient.1 The resonance frequency, playing an important role in determining the high-frequency response, is strongly influenced by the spatial features of the light-intensity distribution and the longitudinal spatial hole burning in the gain-coupled DFB laser.2
