Abstract

With the advent of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEs) it has become possible to construct semiconductor-laser arrays that are coupled evanescently in two dimensions. In order to understand the dynamical behavior of large scale arrays it is necessary first to study the elementary building blocks that compose them. These could be the Bravais lattices but here subunits of lattices, the triangle and the centered triangle are studied.
