Abstract

Phase-arrayed waveguide grating (PAWG) multiplexer/demultiplexer (MUX/DMUX) is a key component for optical wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) networks. Conventional PAWG based devices are designed to yield one set of either constant-channel-spacing1−4 or unequal channel spacing outputs.5 We report here a novel dual-channel-spacing PAWG MUX/DMUX using an asymmetric design for input and output channels.
