Abstract
High-quality nonlinear optical crystals, such as BBO, have very high damage thresholds (several GW/cm2). Their cost is dropping steadily even as their quality has been improved, but the costs of OPO cavities are still high. The high cost of the cavity is due in part to the expensive coatings used in the cavity mirrors, which are also vulnerable to high-energy pulses.1
