Abstract
We present optical gain measurements in quantum dots (QDs) with nanosecond nonresonant excitation using the variable-stripe-length method. The QDs, fabricated by sol-gel process, are embedded in a sodium borosilicate glass with a CdS concentration of about 6 wt%. The size (average radius R) and size distribution (σ) of the dots are smaller and narrower compared to the results presented in Ref. 1.
