Abstract

By using four-wave mixing (FWM) experiments we characterized the fast nonlinearities in a semiconductor laser amplifier (SLA). We extracted the parameters of the relevant dynamic processes with a new technique that eliminates an ambiguity resulting from a dependence on saturation conditions. Additionally this technique enabled us to allow for gain dispersion effects which are significant in our case of THz detunings.
