Abstract

Transitions between the 4f25d configuration and the lower levels of the 4f3 configuration in Nd3−:YLF and Nd3+:LaF3 have been shown to be promising candidates for UV and VUV lasers.1,2 Hitherto these lasers have been pumped by exotic VUV F2 lasers or VUV fluorescence front Kr2* dimers excited by electron beams.
