Abstract

Photonic space switches are key devices for future optical transparent networks. Amongst all InP-based switch arrays, laser-amplifier gate-based ones are very promising.1−3 The butt-coupling waveguide/laser-amplifier integration technology is widely used,1−3 because active and passive PIC sections can be designed independently. But all previously reported results are based on multistep or critical epitaxial growth and complex technological processing.
