Abstract

Cr4+:Forsterite and Cr4+:YAG lasers, excited at 1.06 μm by lamp-pumped Nd:YAG lasers, are tunable near-infrared sources of both cw radiation, and ultrashort pulses as short as 25 fs1 and 46 fs2 respectively.
