Si/SiO2 Micro-Ring Resonator Optical Add/Drop Filters

Abstract

Micro-ring resonators fabricated from Si/SiO2 waveguides operate as channel dropping filters. Rings with radii as small as 3 μm have been fabricated and tested. A FSR of 25nm and Q’s of 250 are measured at λ=1.54 μm.
