Abstract

Recent wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) component advances enable extremely flexible network design options for future network providers. We show that exploiting the full fiber optical bandwidth permits cost-effective segregation of broadcast and switched services onto broadcast and switched networks that coexist on the same fiber-optic infrastructure.
