Abstract
Mid-IR solid-state laser sources operating in the range of atmospheric transparency (3–5 and 7.5–9 μm) are of great importance for such applications as molecular spectroscopy, eyesafe medical laser sources, eyesafe laser radar and remote sensing of atmospheric constituents, and for numerous military applications such as target designation, obstacle avoidance and infrared counter measures.
