Abstract

Up to now, Er3+:BaY2F81 and Er3+:LiYF42 fluoride materials are well-known promising candidates for the generation of 3-μm laser radiation, which is of great interest for medical applications. Recently, stimulated emission was discovered at the 4I1/2 4 I13/2 intermanifold transition in an Er3+-doped BaLu2F3 crystal3.
