Abstract

The emergence of practical quasi-phase-matched nonlinear materials has allowed development of infrared (IR) light sources that were not previously possible. Examples include compact optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) and simple single-pass devices (optical parametric generators, difference-frequency lasers).
