Abstract

One of the most promising techniques for expanding the bandwidth of WDM systems is the L-C band silica-based EDFA1 in which the signals are split and passed through a parallel configuration, including a conventional EDFA (C-band) for signals ranging from ~1530 to ~ 1565 nm, and an L-band EDFA for signals ranging from ~1565 to ~1600 nm.
