High-speed, all-electronic, and programmable wavelength tuning of a synchronously diode-pumped picosecond OPO

Abstract

Traditionally, the desired wavelength of a synchronously pumped singly-resonant optical parametric oscillator (SP-SRO) is selected by varying the pump laser wavelength or the temperature of the nonlinear crystal. Here we demonstrate a new, all-electronic method of SP- SRO tuning which provides several orders of magnitude faster tuning speeds, with freely programmable wavelength access. So far, we can generate more than 100,000 different signal and idler wavelengths per second.
