Abstract

Photon upconversion processes have been extensively studied in lanthanide doped crystals and glasses. Near-IR to VIS processes are most important, and several NIR to VIS upconversion lasers, both with crystals and glass fibers as the active medium, have been reported. Efficient pumping can be achieved with diode laser sources.
