Abstract

Er-doped fiber amplifier has been extensively studied as a key device for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical communication due to its high gain and low noise. However the C band gain spectrum of EDFA has a inherent peak at 1.53 µm, which will cause significant gain band reduction when EDFAs are cascaded.
