Abstract
Cr4+-doped crystals attract attention of researchers since late 80 s due to their capability to operate at wavelength around 1.5 µm and produce broadly tunable ultrashort pulses. Compact actively mode-locked sources of tunable picosecond pulses are especially interesting for testing fibers in telecommunications, femtosecond pulses have also been demonstrated, under Nd:YAG and Nd:YLG pumping.
