Abstract

Over the last decade, many devices have been developed to achieve solutions for packet switching. Among these components, the tunable filter proposed by Heismann et al. is particularly attractive due to its nanosecond response time and its subnanometer bandwidth.1 However, this device needs an additional component for isolating the selected wavelength from the signal. Here we present a novel electrooptic filter that uses a Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate (PPLN) grating and a coupler configuration in order to select the filtered wavelength.2
