Abstract
High intensity laser pulses can be guided in a capillary over a distance many times the Rayleigh range of the focusing lens.1 The use of a femtosecond laser to pump a gas-filled capillary is an attractive approach in terms of enlarging the gain length product in a soft X-ray laser. We conducted an experiment on guiding high intensity laser pulses in a capillary and applied it to soft X-ray laser research.
