Abstract
Optical electric field and voltage sensors are of considerable interest to the electric power industry. Their advantages compared with those of traditional instrument transformers include immunity to electromagnetic interference, response to changes in electric field in the frequency range from dc to GHz, and so on. Commonly, these sensors utilizes the electro-optic effect (Pockels effect) in electro-optic crystals.1
